At simpledu, our journey began in 2020 — not in a boardroom or with investor money — but as a side project, born from a simple but powerful idea: K-12 schools deserved better.
As former educators and district administrators, we knew firsthand the frustration of working with vendors who didn’t truly understand the challenges of K-12 education. Schools needed solutions that were simple, secure, interoperable, and customizable — without all the extra noise, empty promises, and confusing processes. There weren’t many options out there doing it right. So, we built one.
simpledu officially launched with a focus on solving real problems — building dismissal and discipline systems designed for automatic rostering that adapts to each school’s unique setup, seamless Single Sign-On access, true interoperability that reduces workloads, and flexible solutions that scale to meet school, district, and state requirements — all while staying incredibly easy to use.
What started as a way to pay off student loans quickly grew into something so much bigger: our passion, our mission, and our livelihood.
From the very beginning, we made a decision that still shapes every part of our company today: we would stay bootstrapped. No shareholders. No outside investors.
Every decision would be made with one thing in mind — what’s best for schools, not what’s best for our bottom line.
Because of that, our customers experience something rare: a company that truly listens, adapts, picks up the phone, and moves fast — not for profit, but for students, teachers, and administrators. It’s why we’ve been profitable since year one. It’s why school leaders recommend us to others without hesitation. And it’s why we’re so proud of what we’ve built — together, with our schools.
Today, simpledu supports schools across 14 states and counting. Our flagship product, simpldiscipline, now serves over 50% of school districts in South Carolina — helping administrators save countless hours, improve data quality, and spend more time mentoring students, not managing paperwork.
